Argue Meats, from Cootehill, has recently secured a 75% Energy Efficiency Grant from Local Enterprise Office – Cavan
to upgrade its serving counter. The thriving family business, run by second-generation butcher Thomas Argue, has been a key part of the community for decades.

With guidance from consultant John Daly and support from LEO Cavan Business Advisor Karl Kelly, Thomas successfully navigated the grant process. The increased funding in 2024 (up to 75% from 50% of eligible costs up to a maximum grant of €5,000 for investment in technologies and equipment) made the investment even more beneficial. Thomas is thrilled with the modern new glass counter, which has refreshed the shops’ appearance and positively impacted the business.
